Eyelets & Deep Drawn Stampings

Design & Engineered Technologies

Eyelets & Deep Drawn StampingOur greatest success as an eyelet company comes when we partner with our customers. We strive to become an extension of our customers’ design team and help to drastically reduce their component cost by converting screw machine and formed tubing parts into deep-drawn eyelets. For certain applications we have been able to redesign a two or three piece assembly into a one component deep-drawn solution at a fraction of the original assembly cost. We strive to achieve complete customer satisfaction, and we find that starts at the very beginning of a project.

Our eyelets are used in a variety of high technology applications including electronics, aerospace, military, automotive, medical device, and oil & gas exploration, to name a few. By having Platt Brothers involved early in the design phase of a project, we can help engineers design a part manufacturable by the deep-draw process. Deep-drawn components are typically much less expensive in high volume than parts made by other methods. It is our goal to help our customers achieve success by sourcing the most cost effective, high quality, precision components for any given application.

Production Volume Capabilities

The deep-draw process was created for high volume, repeatable manufacturing. At The Platt Brothers & Company, we have several production jobs that exceed 10 Million pieces per year. However, we have also developed a method for manufacturing deep-drawn components in low volumes, sometimes lower than 1,000 pieces per year, and can be a cost effective manufacturing solution. It is this great flexibility in production volume that draws customers to Platt. So if you have a project that requires 1,000 pieces or 100 Million, Platt is the right choice!

Material Selection

View Materials List

At The Platt Brothers & Company we manufacture components with a wide variety of materials, from common every day metals to exotic high temperature or medical grades. We are willing to experiment with any new materials available in strip form. The following list details the types of metals and alloys currently used at Platt Brothers:

  • Cold Rolled Steel
  • Stainless Steel
  • Copper Based Alloys
  • Nickel Alloys
  • Aluminum
  • Titanium
  • Clad and Pre-plated materials are also
    availableby request.

Configurations

Drawn metal parts may be produced in many configurations, rounds, tapers, ovals, squares and other irregular shapes. Secondary-type operations can be incorporated into PRIMARY tooling to accomplish the following:

Tolerances / Dimensions

At The Platt Brothers & Company we have continued to refine and optimize the deep-draw process throughout the decades to achieve the tightest part tolerances. Typical tolerances we achieve are as follows:

  • Inside and Outside Diameters +/-.001”
  • Length Dimensions +/-.004”
  • Radius Dimensions +/-.005”

Overall size and machine center do impact achievable tolerances, so please inquire about the tolerances we can achieve on your specific components and make sure to contact Platt early in your design phase. We can work with your engineers to help optimize dimensions and tolerances to make the most cost-effective manufacturing solution for your requirements possible. From initial drawings to partnering on product development, including confidentiality agreements and the knowledge that our word is our reputation for over 200 years of good business practice and integrity.
