Platt Brothers & Company manufactures zinc and zinc/aluminum alloy wires used for Zinc Thermal Spray, often called Metalized Coatings. Zinc and zinc alloy wire sprayed coatings are integral steps in the manufacture of various electronic, capacitor, automotive, heat exchanger and tube & pipe products. Thermally Sprayed Zinc based alloy wire coatings are also used in the Corrosion protection of bridges, locks & dams, above ground storage tanks, light poles, and other critical infrastructure.

Massive projects such as the Rainbow Bridge at the USA/Canadian border crossing at Niagara Falls that was metalized with Plattzinc Alloy 1315, 85/15 Zinc/Aluminum. The project was performed by Clara Ind., Thunder Bay, Ontario using TMS Metalizing Systems, Silverdale, WA Bridgemaster Thermal Arc Spray systems during 2002 and 2003. The 85/15 Zn/Al Alloy Metalized Coating System was chosen after extensive research by the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission as when sprayed onto steel the 85/15 alloy produces a coating with the best anti corrosion noble characteristics of both the Zinc and Aluminum metals for optimum corrosion protection. The corrosion resistance of this alloy is especially effective on steel against sodium chloride(salt), sulfur dioxide and marine environments.

Standard Zinc Wire Diameters are .057" .064" .079" .091" .125" .1875".Packaging is available in paper wrapped coils, continuous wind 500 pound fiber payoffpack drums and level or random wound spools. Standard Zinc and Zinc/Aluminum Alloys include 99.99%+ Zinc Wire and 98/2, 96/4, 85/15 and 78/22 Zinc/Aluminum Alloy Wires. Plattzinc Alloy 302, Pure Zinc Wire: Plattzinc 99.99%+ pure zinc wire. 0 VOC Coating. Melting Point: 787°. Bond Strength aim is 500 psi. Max Service Temp is 140°. Coating coverage estimate per pound @ 6 mils thickness is 3.5 sq. foot per pound.

Plattzinc Alloy 1312, 98/2 Zinc/Aluminum Wire: Plattzinc 98/2 wire is an alloy of 98% zinc and 2% aluminum by weight. Used as a coating sprayed onto steel, the alloy produces a coating with the best anti corrosion characteristics of both metals for optimum corrosion protection along with many uses as a solder wire. Melting Point: 800° Bond Strength: 600 psi. Max. Service Temp est 180°.0 VOC Coating.

Plattzinc Alloy 1313, 96/4 Zinc/Aluminum Wire: Plattzinc 96/4 wire is an alloy of 96% zinc and 4% aluminum by weight. Used as a coating sprayed onto steel, the alloy produces a coating with the best anti corrosion characteristics of both metals for optimum corrosion protection along with many uses as a solder wire. Melting Point: 800° Bond Strength: 600 psi. Max. Service Temp est 180°.0 VOC Coating.

Plattzinc Alloy 1315, 85/15 Zinc/Aluminum Wire: Plattzinc 85/15 Wire: is an alloy of 85% zinc and 15% aluminum by weight. When sprayed onto steel, the alloy produces a coating with the best anti corrosion characteristics of both metals for optimum corrosion protection. This corrosion resistance alloy is especially effective on steel against sodium chloride (salt), sulfur dioxide and marine environments.Melting Point: 824° Bond Strength: 700 psi. Max Service Temp. 600° f. Coverage per pound @ 6 mils: 4.3 sq. ft./lbs. 0 VOC Coating.

Plattzinc Alloy 1322, 78/22 Zinc/Aluminum Wire: Plattzinc 78/22 Wire: is an alloy of 78% zinc and 22% aluminum by weight. When sprayed onto steel, the alloy produces a coating with a greater amount of aluminum content to allow the increased properties of Al to extend a tougher barrier against more aggressive environments than commonly specified with the 85/15 coating. Currently the standard coating selection for applications pushing the 85/15 coating to its limits with regards to max surface temp's and Ph levels is to jump to a pure aluminum coating and abandon the positive influence of the zinc portion of the coating.
